Probiotech - industrial probiotics and prebiotics event

Probiotech, the professional prebiotics and probiotics event. Probiotech will answer development issues like scientific fact; regulation; market trends and technologies allowing industrial applications of prebiotics and probiotics. Probiotech 2010, held in Paris, France, the 22-23 of June, is now the major and must-attend industrial event on probiotics and prebiotics.

Place of meeting :

Nantes :

West coast of France.
Nantes along the Loire river and near the seacoast of France forms an outstanding tourist attraction.

Nantes is the historical capital of the Dukes of Brittany, and became very wealthy in the 18th Century, thanks to the port and its flourishing trade. It is now a very attractive city with an important university and industrial centre, with a strong development in the biotechnologies to become one of a major European centre. Nantes has been nominated in 2003 and 2004 by the Time magazine and the Point as one of the «Best Place to Live» in Europe.

Background :

Context :

Probiotic and prebiotic science has developed enormously during the last decade in the same time the ecology of gastro-intestinal microflora has been considered as a key player in strengthening the digestive system and enhancing immune response. Scientific evidence that probiotics could play therapeutic and health promoting role in the human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) have made industrials from the food-feed and personal care areas more and more interested in considering nutraceuticals- and cosmeceuticals-probiotics-based products to market.

Regulation and Technical Issues :

Food and beverage are today increasingly consumed to promote and maintain the right balance of microorganisms in the GIT. Personal care and cosmetic industry also want to add probiotics to their products but the confusion in health benefit claims and the evolution of the EC regulation make them reconsidering their strategic development. Moreover, the same industrial actors are facing technical issues to deliver their innovative products with probiotics, from compatibility in new formulation to stability, extended shelf-life... and microencapsulation technologies can be of great help (especially allowing a protective or control released action).

The aim of this workshop...

...is to allow participants to face the different aspects of the use of probiotics’ industrial application: scientific (health benefits’ claim) regulation (risk assessment / EC regulation rules) and technical (shelf-life, control release, stabilisation) issues. This will be the right opportunity to meet the right people (research Director, regulatory consultant, microencapsulation experts) in one place and realize BtoB opportunities.

Organiser :

Gate2Tech aims at becoming the premier promoter of life-sciences technology transfer in Europe.

Gate2tech are “scientific broker” involving an increasing community of research technology development performers, suppliers, and researchers, making available the right technology and expertise in expanding markets.

Gate2Tech’s workshops & trade fair provide delegates with the latest technological information which is the best fit to their requirements in many sectors including cosmetics / personal care, pharmaceuticals, food / feed and textile.
